For some reason I was having a very nostalgic feeling about reading Beanie Malone books when I was a kid (I am 53 years old).  My daughter, Lacey, researcher that she is, came up with your email address for me. She says that you have access to reprints of these books.  Is that true?

Growing up in a big chaotic household in Staten Island, New York in the 1960's, I was amazed to stumble upon the Beany Malone series. Here was a girl I could identify with. I would scan the local public library shelves for these books, and I would devour them when I found them. I never thought there was anyone else with my problems and dreams until I met Beany! I will never forget how comforting it was to read those books. I've thought about them from time to time over the years and I have just ordered two of them using a gift certificate I was given! I'm glad to know there are others who remember Beany fondly.

Lenora Mattingly Weber, Beany Malone Books. I read these books as young girl and loved them.  I remember that one of the characters in one of the stories was loosely based on my grandmother. I believe Mrs. Weber interviewed my grandmother before writing the book. I don't remember which book in the series it was.  I was telling my grandmother about the books as she is into reading series books.

Lenora Matingly Webber, Beany Malone Books. The first chapter book I ever read all the way through was "Meet the Malones." I loved that book and read all of the series. I was able to escape into a kinder, gentler world than in my own childhood. I bought the paperback version a year or so ago and LOVE them! I'll never stop loving Beany and her family.

Lenora Mattingly Weber, Beany Malone Series and Katie Rose Belford Series.  It is so wonderful to read about others who loved these books by Lenora Mattingly Weber.  I hope her children know how many readers loved their mother'\''s ability with characters, dialogue and heartfelt, everyday problems that her protagonists, Beany, and then Katie Rose, worried over along with the reader.  I wanted to jump in these books and know these girls, too. I am now 50 and used to take these books out of our public library in Marlboro, Mass. which had a great selection.  I've found a few over the years and would like to read them all again. Many young girls these days should read such a warm family story.

Lenora Mattingly Weber, Happy Birthday, Dear Beany.  This was the first Beany Malone book I ever "stumbled upon" (as others have put it) and the beginning of a long friendship.  Beany Malone and her family helped me through an awkward adolescence and even now, I have memories of Johnny, Mary Fred et al.  I would highly recommend these books to girls of all ages!

I picked up a copy of "meet the malones" in the free box at a public grade school, o, lucky day!  I read it outloud to my 9 and 11 year old who were horrified beyond words at the wickedness of Nonna! What joy to find that there were so many books in the series!  I continue to read aloud to my girls (who also just read them) because it brings up so much discussion.  Over half a year later we began "something borrowed, something blue" and I was amazed at how angry they got just recalling Nonna's redecorating of Beanie's roon.  My younger daughter makes allusion to Beany's motives often.  It is such a joy to have these books!

Lenora Mattingly Weber, Beanie Malone books.  I am 62 and was sitting thinking about all the girls from childhood and how we spent those seemingly endless summer days. Cecelia Catherine Malone, Beanie, was my absolute favorite. I loved "Something Borrowed, Something BLue" because I was a teenager dreaming of a "wedding" at the time. So glad I stumbled upon this site and realize that "Beanie" was so important to a lot of us.

I would like to know which of the Malone books have been reissued (you mentioned an independent publisher), and in particular Happy Birthday Beany and Leave it to Beany. Thanks.

Before accidentally stumbling onto this Web site, I thought I was the only grownup who was still addicted to "girls" books.  I also enjoy mysteries and loved the following description in Laura Lippman's latest (In A Strange City, p.87, P.3) "Sweetly rumpled, with light brown curls that looked as if he had just gotten up from a nap,he brought to mind the bookish heroes Tess had encountered in her childhood reading.  He was Louisa May Alcott's Laurie, Maud Hart Lovelace's Joe Willard, Lenora Mattingly Weber's Johnny Malone, Jules from the All-of-a-kind Family books."  do you love it?

Thanks for posting the letters on Beany Malone.  Like one of your earlier writers, I am also in early 50s, and to this day, love to re-read my Beany books.  I still find a word , sentence, or phrase, that hadn't really sunk in before..and I continue to marvel at Lenora's amazing craft, as well as deep  understanding and compassion.  I attribute much of the person I am, and  my outlook on life, first to my parents, and then to Lenora Mattingly Weber.

Lenora Mattingly Weber, A New and Different Summer. I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's reading theKatie Rose series.  My favorite was "A new and Different Summer'.  It wasn't until I found a site devoted to lovers of this author that I came to find out about Beany Malone and the reprinting of her series.  i have just finished reading them for the second time. I just love them~!  The "comings and goings" in Beany's life were sometimes so sad but I think truer to life than I would like to think.  I only wish that lenora Mattingly Weber would have continued with Katie Rose up until the time she hopefully married Miguel! I think the times changed so drastically from her first Beany book to the start of Katie Rose.  The Stacy books were perhaps my least favorite.  They were so melancholy.  I am also lucky to have a short story of Weber's in an old Ladies Home Journal from the 50's I think.  I bought it for another reason and was pleasantly surprised.  If anyone knows anything about the Beany malone or Lenora Mattingly Weber

Lenora Mattingly Weber, Come Back, Wherever You Are..  Lenora Mattingly Weber was my Great Grandmother. I love her books! Every time that I read them I feel like I learn more about my family history. I am so glad that other people are touched by the works of my Great Grandmother. I was also overjoyed when we were all able to each have our own set of The Beany Malone and The Katie Rose series. (Because they were reprinted my sisters and I were each able to have our own set, before they had been so hard to come by my mom was the one who had the complete series we were allowed to read.) The charters are like old friends to me. When I read the books I feel like I am visiting special friends who are always there and who never change.

Lenora Mattingly Weber, Beanie Malone /  Katie Rose.  I'm a Middle School Librarian and am excited these books have been reprinted.  I've never forgotten Beanie and Katie Rose.
